It's a Give-Away not a Swap....

Fall into Fall Quilter's Blog Give-Away
Debi from Debi Quilts has organized the Fall into Fall Quilter's Blog Give-Away. And while my family has banned me from Swaps until further notice....they said nothing about a Give-Away! I have found the Amazon box that your lovely prizes will be shipped in and I have begun pilfering my books, patterns and fabrics and I will add something new to the box each day until the drawing, which runs until the 15th of October. I will take a photo of the Amazon box each day with the item that I have added to it and you can check out the updated photo of the box in my sidebar photos. On the 15th of October I will seal the box and draw the winner's name and head into town with your lovely gifts. The only thing that you have to do to enter the Fall into Fall Quilter's Blog Give-Away on my blog is.... ... to help me come up with a name for our new Great Pyrenees puppy who will be coming home in November.... I will need suggestions for both a boy dog and a girl dog as we have asked for the biggest puppy in the litter and will only know of the sex after the puppies are born sometime this week. Please remember that this is a family friendly blog and anything inappropriate will be deleted and your name will not be included in the entry for the Give-Away! This is a photo of our Great Pyrenees puppy who turned 6 months old last week. Her name is Lucy, though we call her Miss Lucy when she is behaving sweetly, Goose when she is flighty and off chasing kittens, and Moose when she bowls you over or knocks you to the ground. The first thing that I have placed into the Amazon prize box is one of the sheep pincushions that I made. Good Luck!

Maybe Snowball? That would work for either gender.

How about Milo for a boy dog? And for a girl, Mimi? Okay, I'm not good at this, that's probably why we've only ever had a bird (Willie).

Marilyn R said...

I'm not the best at naming pets, but how about Russell (Russ for short) for a boy. That name seems rough and tough for some reason. For a girl how about Betsy. That name seems sweet and would go well with Lucy. Thanks for entering me in you giveaway!

Beautiful music (love the Autom leaves song...very relaxing).

As for names that I'd suggest:

for a Girl: Miska or Matilda
&
for a Boy: Alban (means white)

Maybe Misty,Rusty,or Sadie. I love the name Misty though only because that was a name of a German Shepard I had when I was younger.

My MIL has a great pyrenees named Leah (girl) pronounced either LAY-uh or LEE-uh depending on who's calling her! I like it - and how about Jake for a boy?

I am sorry, I just have to say it. How about Ethel for a girl and Ricky for a boy. I know that is bad, but what popped into my head. Probably because 'I Love Lucy' is still one of my favorite shows. (grin) Good luck with the new puppy. Sounds like a great give away.

OMG, you could stop with the pincushion for me - it's TOO cute!

Roscoe and Goodie - I just love the idea of being able to call out "goodie-goodie-goodie-goodie!"

Since the Great Pyrenees is a mountain dog, related to a St. Bernard, and resembling a white bear, you might name a male - Bart or Bernard or a female Bernadette. Or since they became uber popular with French nobility in the 17th century, you could name him Napoleon. . .or her Marie Antoinette. Just a commoner's thoughts. . .Thanks for entering me in your drawing - brdstitcher at gmail dot com

How about Shadow, it works for both a girl or a boy. What a fun way to have a give-away, I will have fun watching your box fill up.

Hmmmm. I am really bad at naming pets. I never come up with anything original. My cat is named B.B. because the one before her was Baby. My present dog is Chili Pepper! But I read some of the other suggestions. I love Sasha for a girl and Shiloh for a boy. I know, not original, but those stand out to me.

Jane's Fabrics and Quilts said...

We also just got a puppy, we have bull dogs, so ugly they are cute, so we needed to come up with pretty names for them, but you dog is already beautiful. My family laughs at me, but ever since I was a little girl I would name my stuffed animals after their color, had a dog bluie, cat called whitie, so I like whitie for either! or because it is a large dog, give him/her a small name, pixie, little bits, etc. Thank you for the giveaway!

Linda said...

What a fun idea Christine, my husband has always wanted to call a big dog Kitty.....that would only work for a female. How about Buster for a male. How wonderful for your family another animal to love.

Love the pincushion! My kids love the movie Lilo and Stitch and have always said when they get a dog, they want to name it (boy or girl) Stitch. Hmmm....as these doggies {cute!} are getting quite big, it should be a "big" name...what about "Greta" or "Manfred" ;o)? Well, serious....these are the names I came up with:
- Miss Moira {= it makes me think of mohair} or Wooly {because of the furry fur}
- Albus for him and Blanche for her {as they are nearly white} and
- Faith or Trusty {because it will be your faithful and trusty follower...}
I'm sure you'll find the perfect name for your new dog as soon as you see him or her!

wow -- that's gonna be quite a dog! since my family always went for slightly absurd pet names, you could always try "Blackie", "Soot", or "Kitty". (we had a cat named Phideau when I was a kid...)

fernbell said...

One time I read in reader's digest where they named the dog after something the loved or their work. Like a scientist named his dog beaker. We love to shoot guns so our lab mix is named remington. You could name them after your favoriet block or stitches. Bree, ember, stitch, star, patch (patchwork). I am sure there is more but can't think of them off top of head lol.

What a fabulous giveaway! I love picking out names for pets--I usually pick something after I get a feel for their personality but here's my suggestions sight unseen.
Lily for a girl (lily white) or Everest (like Mt. Everest) for a boy. Oh I hope I win--I love sheep and your pincusion is toooo cute!

I think Fletcher for a boy and Zoey for a girl, just like my dogs
4 mths and 1 yr). Beware you may start calling them PIC (partners in crime) or fluffers on a regular basis. Enjoy your puppies!~Susan

Back again!
Sorry, didn't think about a girl name. I used to have a female black lab, so in memory of her, how about Drew for a girl?
Once again, great givaway! Janey Joop :^)
