If Your Friends All Jump Off a Bridge....

My son asked me this morning what I was doing and I told him that all my friends were jumping off of bridges and I thought I'd give it a try...
His advice to me was, "Mom, that's probably not a good idea." And then he left the room, and he never even tried to stop me or talk me out of it.
And so with a stack of pretty pieces leftover from a doll quilt, and a found package of insanely small hexagons that I had purchased two quilts shows ago when the idea of hexagons first entered my head....
I jumped... And so I am reaching out to all of you that have already made the jump.... When you do the little set of whip stitches up the back of the pieces.... just how snugly should those stitches be pulled? And is it possible that I'm not pulling them snugly enough on the back. Should they be completely hidden on the front? I know that I have just the one seam, but I don't want to move ahead only to find out that I didn't have it quite right. Thanks for your help!
