me and my Nanny McPhee

While we haven't had television in our home for
nearly two years, we do have favorite movies that we
occassionally find in our letterbox from Netflix...
and we view them on a portable dvd player
with an 8" screen...
...and last summer while watching Nanny McPhee,
I was smitten with the granny square afghan on Chrissy's
bed. I grabbed the camera and began snapping photos
trying to catch as many shots of the colors as possible...
I gathered the wool and then set it aside so to wait for
my courage and crochet skills to catch up with me and I
worked on this blanket for Sarah...
last week after watching Nanny Mcphee again...
and having come across this granny sqaure tutorial...
I gave it a go and ....
so begins the journey of stitching
my very own Nanny Mcphee.

So awesome. I'm an avid crocheter; but haven't yet tackled a granny square afghan. I'll be looking forward to your progress.

Was tickled to read about your granny square afghan. Years ago my aging mother needed something to keep her busy - so I got her hook and yarn. She crocheted almost day and and night and produced several afghans. The two that I treasure the most are the two granny square ones she made. One (ablack edged one) adorns the back of my den couch, and the other (a brown edged one) adorns a hope chest in my quest bedroom. I am surrounded daily of my mother's essence.

It is color that usually catches our attention on a quilt or afghan, even before the pattern I've found. I like the colors also.

My Nana always had a granny square going. I never learned crochet, just knitting, but my mum makes them--very pretty.

I'm in love with the Nanny McPhee afghan too. I even named mine after the movie. I love finding kindred "Nanny McPhee Granny" spirits!

Keep crocheting - I'd love to see your progress!

I know the title says me and Nanny McPhee, but I started hearing the song Me and Bobby McGee in my head! Hope you're doing well. Miss reading you more. :)

Hi, I found this site looking for information on what a Nanny McPhee quilt is. Are they all crocheted or are there any examples of some that are quilted? If not do you have any suggestions or ideas. I'll check back to the great site or you can find me on FB or stitchtalk.com - Anita Black. Thank you so much.
