Our log cabin does not have air conditioning...
and it's just too hot these days to try getting any stitching
done on a blanket of this size.  There is only one skein
of yarn left and when the weather cools it shouldn't take
me very long to finish the last couple of rows.

So I've begun sewing together baby granny squares
for a baby that will most likely arrive before the
blanket is finished...but I'm sure it will be
finished before the first snow flies.
I hope it will keep him nice and toasty.

I spent the last two weeks sitting in an ice rink while my
son attended hockey camps in Chicago...
and I was able to knit nearly three pairs of socks.

and another pair was started....
I can't wait to see how this orange pair turns out.
Did I mention that I love knitting socks?

a sneak peak at a pair of socks for a Christmas gift...

We always had parakeets growing up...and I couldn't
imagine our home without them. We take their cage outside
each morning and hang it on the porch. We worry that
racoons might try to get into the cage so we bring
it back into the house each night.

Hope you are enjoying your summer.

Gasp. The baby link goes to my blog. It must be my baby you are talking about. --- It is so beautiful. Oh my! I feel so blessed.

I love the "no a/c" vs. knitting in an ice-rink. :-) Three pairs of socks. Wow. Amazing.

Sending a cool breeze your way...

You certainly made the most of your time at the ice rink -- I love those little granny squares. This is going to be adorable. As for socks --oh I LOVE to knit socks and I can tell you that orange yarn knits ups beautifully. Orange, pink gold -- I have a sock on my needles right now with this yarn.

Love the colors on the granny squares, so bright and cheerful. Is it wool?
Funny parakeet story... we had them a lot when I was growing up too. When I was six one came around the backdoor because it heard ours I think. My dad put seed on the patio and our bird's cage on the floor inside the backdoor. When the 'visitor' came through the door following the seed, he threw a towel over him (her?) and then we had two! A blue one and a green one. I was little, but I still remember wondering about that parakeet out in the big, wide world like that!

I enjoy knitting socks too, but I don't seem to knit in the Summer. I usually knit while watching TV with Hubby. Summer is too busy to sit much in front of the TV I guess. :)Love the granny squares!
